Cheaper than Wendys…

$6 for a pound of ground bison.  $1.30 for organic red potatoes.  A handful of local greens, and a few pickle chips.  A few tablespoons of green chile.  A few crumbles of local feta cheese.  All together, it costs less than some fast food for a healthy, delicious meal.  And the burgers were 1/2 lb each.

Recipe:

For the burgers, mix two teaspoons of powdered red chile, a good pinch of kosher salt, and three shakes of onion powder.  Let it sit for 30 minutes.  Heat up a grill pan or fire up the grill.  Cook until each side is carmelized and shows grill marks.  Pull off the grill and rest.   Then top w/ green chile and cheese.

For the potatoes, its simple.  Wash the potatoes and insert a fork into each.  Then microwave them until they’re cooked through, 4-6 minutes on high.  Let them cool, cut them in half, and then carmelize in a hot pan with extra virgin olive oil.  Cook them skin side up.  Then toss in some kosher salt, and good vinegar.
