While digging the ditch on Saturday, and trying assiduously not to know what time it was, someone wondered why anyone would wear a watch anymore? We all have the time on our cellphones or iphones or what have you. Why wear a watch? I pointed out that many businessmen, like my brother, wear a watch b/c they tend to judge another businessmen by how expensive his watch is. Or his shoes.

I was thankful that I didn’t have to worry about such things. But this morning, as I was leaving the house, I looked in the mirror and realized that I may not worry about wearing an expensive watch, but I do worry about how long my stubble is. And if my graphic T is cool enough. And if my hair is messy enough…
